![]() This album is freely available and can be downloaded from here I recorded this album throughout autumn 2005 after my brother Joe had died, which dramatically changed my life in so many ways. Before this happened I was in limbo and had been educating myself to what was going on in the world, and my anger was growing by the day. The London bombings combined with the G8 summit and Live 8 fiasco was almost the last straw for me. The bombing completetly diverted the media's attention to the G8 and after watching lots of 9/11 stuff it seems too timely to be ignored. The G8 slipped by unnoticed and no real progress was made. I had actually been feeling quite positive about it beforehand believing the propaganda that it would be different this time, and felt we could move closer to a better planet. Live 8 was unbelievable, first of all the BBC would not show any of the video's for fear of being impartial! If that were true then Newsnight would certainly have to be scrapped, and Jeremy Paxman would be on the dole. Watch a documentary about the FOX news network and then watch clips of Paxman interviewing George Galloway to see what I mean. So if the true content of Live8 could not be shown on the TV then what was it about? Nothing more than a celebration of globalization and a stunning example of how our exploitation of the planet has benefitted us. Geldof introducing Bill Gates as the worlds most important philanthropist is too ridiculous to be real surely??? Shortly after this I watched a few Alex Jones films which inspired me to take on this project. Alex jones encourages people to become leaders, to educate etc... I soon found out I was not good at this, and was actually making the situation worse :) I figured being a musician, the best thing to do would be to make an album. It took a few tracks to get going but it all came together pretty naturally and was a rewarding experience. The name NEU World Order seemed appropriate to me for a few different reasons, firstly the New World Order stuff is the basis of what the material covers, whether you believe it's illuminati, power/money hungry capitalists etc New World Order has become a collective term which brings all of these ideas..issues together. On the musical front, one of the most important influences for me is Klaus Dinger, and so it also acts as a tribute to this hugely underpaid and underexposed musical/political genius. Yep the world knows how great NEU were but Klaus is still making incredible records, boycotted by the west (since the song America in '85) he is on Captain Trip records in Japan(Captain Trip website), and you can get his CDs via mail order. If you like NEU! & la! dusseldorf, you will love his later stuff, he just gets better! I highly reccomend Year of the Tiger, Cha Cha 2000 live in Japan (double CD), Blue, Neondian and Dusseldorf. This may all seem like I'm going off the mark, but it is the ultimate example of the sort of censorship the collective corporate world is capable of. Total respect to Alex Jones, his films totally inspired this project and much of the vocal material on this album is from those films or his radio shows untouched by me. People either love him or hate him, he upsets people because his passion for fighting is unstoppable, there is nowhere he will not go. I don't agree with all of his beliefs, but that is irrelevant, I have a brain to make up my own mind about these issues. The point is that we need Alex Jones and he constantly provokes all the right people, it is inevitable he will upset the wrong people also at times. He IS making waves and making a difference, and I recommend that everyone watch some of his films, Martial Law is a good one but be warned they are very very tightly packed with information and long, so take breaks :) I tried contacting him several times whilst making this album but never got an email back, so he probably doesn't know about it's existence. Also on the album is John Pilger who uses a typical British style with his documentaries which should all be watched. Cythia Mckinney is another extroadinary person who has risen against all odds, and stands up for freedom and true democracy. I am so pleased these people are out there, it gives me some hope for the future. One last note on why I did the album. Alex Jones says that you need to become a teacher/leader, to make a difference in your community etc... Now I am useless at this, I end up falling out with the people I love and feeling completely defeated by the whole thing. It takes some strength to do this, and the level of conditioning in many people seems like a fortress. I soon realised that I was not going to make a difference this way, in fact I was probably making the situation worse. People think you are some wierd cult member, or that you have a strange hobby, that you're brainwashed, misinformed etc etc... I am a musician and so the only thing for me to do was make an album. There is also a website which has syndicated news from a handful of independant news providers such as FAIR, indiemedia etc... Now the album is made and available I am starting to promote it, but promotion is not my strong point, if anyone out there has any ideas of effectively using it for what it was designed for then get in touch (You can email from the NWO website, or if you wish to use myspace then use myspace/astralpedestrian as that is the account I will be logged into most of the time). tracklist: 01 - Machine I |
